He has a twin sister, Rachel and his maternal grandfather was Scottish-born Canadian politician and former Premier of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas, who is widely credited for bringing universal health care to Canada.

Pace has appeared in popular series, such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 as Garrett and The Hobbit as Thranduil. He plays the villain Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy.

She wrote and directed the independent film Tiny Furniture (2010), and is the creator, writer and star of the HBO series Girls. She has received eight nominations for Emmy Awards as a writer, director, actress and producer and won two Golden Globe Awards for Girls. Dunham is the first woman to win a Directors Guild Award for Outstanding Director in a Comedy Series.
