Colson Baker (born April 22, 1990), known professionally as Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), is an American rapper, singer, musician, and actor. He is noted for his compositional blending of contemporary and alternative hip hop with rock.

Machine Gun Kelly released four mixtapes between 2007 and 2010 before signing with Bad Boy Records. He released his debut studio album, Lace Up, in 2012, which peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 and contained his breakout single "Wild Boy" (featuring Waka Flocka Flame). His second and third albums, General Admission (2015) and Bloom (2017), achieved similar commercial success; the latter included the single "Bad Things" (with Camila Cabello), which peaked at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. His fourth album, Hotel Diablo (2019), included rap rock.

Machine Gun Kelly released his fifth album, Tickets to My Downfall, in 2020; it marked a complete departure from hip hop and entry into pop punk. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, the only rock album to do so that year, and contained the single "My Ex's Best Friend", which reached number 20 on the Hot 100. He achieved similar commercial success with its follow up Mainstream Sellout (2022).

Machine Gun Kelly had his first starring role in the romantic drama Beyond the Lights (2014), and since appeared in the techno-thriller Nerve (2016), the horror Bird Box (2018), the comedy Big Time Adolescence and portrayed Tommy Lee in the biopic The Dirt (both 2019).

I just wanted to say thank you your music saved my life I started rapping when I was 7 with my brother unfortunately when I was 10 my brother passes away and I swear never to rap again and then I started smoking pot and shit but when I head you're music it mad me realize that life is hard for every one and I started to rap again and it probably saved my life because I was keeping all my emotions in side and was getting sadder as the days moved on but when I picked up my pen and started writing I felt so much better thanks you for what you do and you are a amazing rapper

I love your music. It has 100% meaning. And its like every word you say, my dad has been through my family listens to your music everyday. My dream since about four -five years ago was to rap swing life away with you and every time the song comes on I turn the volume all the way up blare the music and rap .. But your music isn't random words like drakes music but your songs are what people today feel. I get caught in the words that you speak .. I love it!!!

Sup dude, I know you probably won't read this but it's the closest thing I can find to contacting you, I'm from Australia, still stuck in this place. I needed to vent to somone, you know your one of a few rappers that rap about real shit, one of the few rappers that I can chuck your music on repeat and listen to all day, BUT your the only rapper that has touched my soul, your music takes me away, takes me away from all this bullshit, takes me away from all the dramas I have in my life. I work as a door knocker, those annoying guys that knock on your door and try and sell you shit, yehp that's me. People don't realize how mentally stressful it is, how much abuse we take, how much bullshit we have to put up with just to make a couple bucks, but at the end of the day, on my long ass train ride home from work, I put your music on. It takes all my worries away, I feel like your sitting there right next to me on the train telling me everythings gonna be alright man. No one else does, and you know sometimes you just need someone to say to you, man everythings gonna be sweet, you got this. Your the only that's had my back over these years, the only one that's been there, not literally but through you music I feel like you've been there all along. You don't know it but you've helped me get through every day, and I'm sure you've help millions of others. I just hope you take the time out of your day to read what all these people are saying, see how much of an inspiration you really are. I hope you see this and I hope it brightens YOUR day, I think I owe you one. Thanks for everything man

We're going through the same struggles, and I hope things get better for you. Seeing his effect on people and how much he helps is amazing. He is truly a hero, and i dont care if this sounds corny, but if he saw the ffect he had on people, the change they seek in their life after listening to his music or even when someone is in a position where they feel like taking their own life, his music will heal you.

I'm going to be honest, i know you hear this all of the time, but you honestly changed my life for the better. You change everyone's lives with just a few words. At 3 years old i started getting beat by my father, he beat my mother when she was 4 months pregnant with my older brother Cody, and my other sibling lionel, but he never beat my older sister. One day he had my grandmother, (who knew what was going on but thought it was okay), take us four kids, and he took my mother to a small secrete area and held a shotgun to her head He started laughing and said "Talk to your brothers again, and that's where you'll end up". But my mom is a fighter, a strong tough, women who doesn't know what the word quit means. Exactly 1 week later, when my dad was at work, my mom had to ask my grandmother to take us 2 young ones to a park, when she was allowed to take us, she had another plan. We went and picked up my older brother and sister from elementary school and we ran away with the clothes on our back. I'm 17 now, my older brother and sister are broke and living from house to house, my 19 year old sister gets beat by her 37 year old boyfriend. My mom is 37 years old, my other brother is 18 years old and with both of us getting ready to graduate, your music has spread through the both of us. We both started doing drugs and drinking but, getting expelled from school, and getting in trouble with the law, We realized that what we have to look up to wasn't great and what we were doing wasn't going to change anything for the better. We started realizing there is more out there for us, we just want to thank you. We don't know you personally but your music speaks to us as if we do. Dropping all of our troubles, we started doing better in school and personally help ourselves get through our own struggles, we push each other to better ourselves. Giving my mom hope that both of us are going to gradate on time and not drop out like our two older siblings, is the best feeling ever. Along with seeing so much stress and relief on her face, knowing she did something right. Of course it's not only us but we have a huge group of friends here in Wisconsin who support you. We've all been through struggles, but we all help each other get through them. We cannot express how much you have helped us out and the appreciation we have for you.

WE as a group of friends have a question for you, if you even see and read this at all, Will you come and perform at our Prom April 25, Black River Falls, WI.??

Hello fellow fans. I am just a teenage girl who loves his music. I have been through a lot in my life not with family or money or anything but with depression very bad. MGK's music touched me through that time and brought me out of depression. I realized people have had it way worse than me. My one dream for my 16th birthday which is in December would be to meet Machine Gun Kelly and tell him how much he touched me. I am sure a lot of people do this but I am begging please help my dream come true it would be the best day in my life. My grandma lived in Toledo, OH and I know he lived in Cleveland. But if you could help me reach to him in any way possible I would greatly appreciate it. MGK is my role model to get out of you town and do something with your life. That is what I want to do and his music makes my days better. I love how he tells his story through his music. I absolutely love him for everything that he does and I admire him as a dad and a rapper. So please if anyone is wiling to help me please do. This has been my dream for so long and nothing could compare to this I would be so happy to meet him and I would just love to see him in person. See I can't go to his concerts because he never has them around me so this is why I need yalls help. So please I'm begging if you will help me please do we can reach him if we all try no matter how you do it via Facebook, twitter, Instagram idc but please I just want this one wish to come true for me!

I just ask you give the song addicted a listen if anything and to whom it may concern. Rapping is my dream but I almost let drugs ruin it. I put an album out a while ago earlier on I opened up for afroman in Cleveland at a place called pbodys I heard they closed. I even has Curtis blow call me up after hearing a song just to tell me he liked it. Then I moved in with a girl in Chicago for nine years I quit doing music. She cheated and now I'm back stating my life over in Ohio again. I was born and raised here. Now I'm back doing my passion. I just ask for any break I can get bruh. Ohio for life. Love your music bro. Please just listen to one song. 6302512801 my number. I'm putting it out there in hopes you even read these things but I know you're all about your fans so maybe my dream will come.

Dear, Machine Gun Kelly

Earlier today, May 17th, 2015, the world lost of the most magnificent and beautiful hearts ever. Her name was Hayley... And at the youthful age of twenty-one, she was ripped from the flesh world, her spirit dispersed into the rest of life here on earth. Hayley was best and lifelong friends with my fiance, and the loss of her best friend has devastated her. I'm contacting you to hopefully get you to reach out to my fiance in some way shape or form. Being Cleveland, born and raised... Hayley, and my fiance Kaylie, were two of the biggest MGK fans out there, and they constantly showed their support, through merchandise to attending EST fest... if it involved MGK, or his music, they were all about it. Something as simple as a shout out on the MGK Facebook group, to a simple tweet, might... Just might, help Kaylie, the love of my life, know she isn't alone in this trying time. Please consider my request, and contact me at if you need any further information.

Just a sincere fan, looking to help his future wife, cope with a devastating loss...

The words from see my tears, her song, black flag and many other walk through the same path im treading. And gives me hope knowing that if you can make it threw the same hard times I can. Thank you mgk keep it real my man fuck them haters

I'm gonna try and keep this short and sweet because I figure you go through a shit ton of fan mail (or whoever sorts the shit out for you to see.. if that is the case. I have no idea). I've know about your music for half a decade now. But haven't really listened till about three months ago. And I can't get the message out of my fuckin head (one of your messages anyway) to not give up on your dreams. I may not have the same exact dream as you but trust me it's relevant.

To start out. I want you to know won't be upset or whatever if u don't reply to this (even though I think it'd be awesome to hear from my main source of support right now ). I know your line of work can make this a difficult task.

OK now that we're through the bullshit... let me speak my mind for a bit.

Where I'm from:
Originally from Poland. My first language is polish. Still speak, read and write the shit.

What I do:
I'm a union carpenter from Chicago that joined the army at the age of 28 (I'm 33 at the moment.. still in the army (I read you have some experience living around this shit) but about to get kicked out for disciplinary issues.... whatever the fuck that means)

What I want to do:

I'm pretty good at making people laugh.. been making people laugh and smile all my life... especially in the army... so I'm trying to do stand up comedy. With that being said there is a LOT of people that doubt me. I know what route I need to take to get this career started. Just wanted to tell you that you are a major impact on my future endeavors.

That's my short and sweet version of what I wanted to throw your way.

I hope you keep making great music.
I know you will always be successful as fuck because your messgae holds weight.
Wish you all the best

I know you hear this all the time. That you're amazing, and I know you doubt yourself. As a fan, I can see it. You wonder why people look up to you. Why people really feel you. And it's because you have cared enough to feel us, so we feel you in return. I'm scraping up babysitting jobs and applying everywhere to get a job within the next week, but I haven't even gotten an email, no one has called back or tried interviewing me. But I'm hopeful. I'm trying to get money to pay for tickets to see your concert on January 5th. 58 bucks for two, my mom and I. Not so hard. But 188x2... That's about 400 bucks. And I have none. I'm doing everything I can though because you are an amazing person. You literally wake up every morning and write songs to help motivate people. To help show people that it's okay to hurt. To try to tell the mother fuckers that think it's okay to hurt people that they aren't big. To stop bullying. You are an inspiration to many. We love you. Stay doing what you're doing. By the way, your mix with rock is phenomenal. It's different and we as fans love the sound. Don't be afraid to change your sound, either. We will stick with you til the end. EST for life.

I've had a bad drug problem for the last 2 years, patches. I've recently tried to stomp the habit, though ive relapsed twice so far. Ive known of your hit songs but never really looked into your music much further than that, as the drugs consumed my life and took away my love for music so I didn't really care. A few months ago after a friend of mine, and big fan of yours, told me about your history and what your music is REALLY about I decided to look into it more. I honestly thought "wild boy" was what your music was like, Fuck was I ever wrong. Over the last week ive needed your music to literally fall asleep, between the back pain and the hot flashes your music has been the only thing that's helped. I was just looking for some words of wisdom if possible to help get me to the other side of this. I know that's probably a lot to ask but it would give me so much strength.

Last night my friend and I attended the machine gun Kelly concert in Miami. Long story short she began talking to the bouncer who was working backstage and he eventually gave us wrist bands and let us in. We proceeded to go backstage where it was mostly people from MGK's posse and whatnot. We were there for about 15 minutes when machine gun Kelly walked past me. I immediately looked at my friend and said "oh my god that's mgk" I gave it about a minute and I walked up to him he was talking to his friend and I said "hi I'm a really big fan could you maybe think I could get a picture" he replied "don't you see im fucking talking to my friend" ...confused i replied "sorry what" my friend jumped in and said "why do you have to be so rude" he began screaming at her and said "DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO I FUCKING AM BITCH YOURE AT MY FUCKING CONCERT IM MGK" she was unimpressed and let him know so a few seconds later the bouncer was throwing us out of the backstage area. I was livid but more so extremely hurt and disappointed

Machine Gun Kelly if you're going to react like an arrogant prick when somebody asks for a picture you might want to do it at a show with more then 50 people. Your career is based SOLELY on the support of your fans and although you're more then entitled to your human rights like privacy and what not ....that doesn't give you the right to belittle someone in public who mustered up the courage to even talk to you. Your lyrics claim to feel unhappy with the world and its negative people yet your behavior demonstrates everything you claim to stand against. As somebody who was a very big fan who can openly admit at some points your lyrics have moved me to tears and really impacted me.... it felt like somebody popped a balloon over my head. Get some humility and PLEASE get over yourself.

Actually, that was rude of you. That wasn't the time and place to approach MGK (or any performer) for a chat, picture, or autograph.

The tour and performer management sets up times for meet and greets. Otherwise, the performer is spending the time at the venue doing what he or she does to prepare for a concert. The last thing most performers want is to deal with the public immediately before going on stage.

For you, the concert is a fun activity. For MGK and other performers, that is their time to work, so respect that and don't get pissy because you approached someone while working and they told you to leave them alone.
