Short bio:

Dolly Parton (born January 19, 1946) is a singer-songwriter, actress, author, businesswoman, and humanitarian, known primarily for her work in country music. Her career began as a child performer on the Cas Walker radio show, then recording a few singles from the age of 13. Relocating to Nashville at age 18 in 1964, her first commercial successes were as a songwriter (her songs during this period were covered by numerous artists, including Bill Phillips and Kitty Wells). She rose to prominence in 1967 as a featured performer on singer Porter Wagoner's weekly syndicated TV program; their first duet single, a cover of Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing on My Mind", was a top-ten hit on the country singles chart and led to several successful albums before they ended their partnership in 1974. Moving towards mainstream pop music, her 1977 single "Here You Come Again" was a success on both the country and pop charts. A string of pop-country hits followed into the mid-1980s, the most successful being her 1980 hit "9 to 5" (from the film of the same name) and her 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream", both of which topped the U.S. pop and country singles charts. A pair of albums recorded with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris were among her later successes. In the late 1990s, she returned to classic country/bluegrass with a series of acclaimed recordings.

Parton has garnered 11 Grammy Awards and 50 nominations, including the Lifetime Achievement Award; ten Country Music Association Awards, including Entertainer of the Year and is one of only seven female artists to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award; five Academy of Country Music Awards, also including Entertainer of the Year; four People's Choice Awards; and three American Music Awards. She is also in a select group to have received at least one nomination from the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, and Emmy Awards. In 1999, Parton was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2022, she was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she declined the nomination, but ultimately accepted the nomination; it was later announced that Parton will be inducted.

Outside of her work in the music industry, she also co-owns The Dollywood Company, which manages a number of entertainment venues, including the Dollywood theme park, the Splash Country water park, and a number of dinner theatre venues including The Dolly Parton Stampede and Pirates Voyage. She has founded a number of charitable and philanthropic organizations, chief among which is the Dollywood Foundation, which manages a number of projects to bring education and poverty relief to East Tennessee where she grew up.

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a surprise message from dolly to my sister on her wedding day. She is dollys biggest fan from seeing her in concert to dressing up as her on her 30th birthday. She has had a tough few years with illness and is now about to get married, have their baby christened and celebrate her 40th birthday all on the same weekend. A message from Dolly would be the perfect way to start celebrating her new married life.

Hope you can help

Dolly has done a wonderful job with this program. She has integrated it into third world countries which i think is fantastic. I just wish she would expand it further in the United States. I have a grand daughter who would benefit highly from this program. My daughter and grand daughter have had to move back in with me and money is tight so extras like books are hard to buy. Im sure we are not alone in this hardship so i was wondering if Dolly would consider expanding her Imagination Library into Utah so us and others could take advantage of his wonderful program. Please consider this. Thank you, Mel

I thank God for Dolly's voice... she was born to sing! I can't listen to "There Was Jesus" without hearing her voice and getting choked up! It is so beautiful when she belts out "There was Jesus!" that I am moved to tears. Thank you, Dolly!

Dear Mrs. Parton,

I just want to write you a note to say that I like you very much and am happy your songs are here for our enjoyment. Thank you very much for the work you do for your community, for women, and for people in general. They say bees’ knees and I don’t know what that means, but you’re them. I really want to be like you, and thank you x 3!

All my love to you and thank you again, because you’ve made my life very happy.

Very kind regards,

Elliott
