Kevin Spacey

Birth Name:
Kevin Spacey Fowler
Best Known For:

Frank Underwood in "House of Cards"

Short bio:

Kevin Spacey Fowler was born in South Orange, New Jersey on July 26, 1959. He's an American actor, film director, producer, and comedian. Spacey began his career as a stage actor during the 1980s before obtaining supporting roles in film and television. He gained critical acclaim in the early 1990s that culminated in his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the neo-noir crime thriller The Usual Suspects (1995), and an Academy Award for Best Actor for midlife crisis-themed drama American Beauty (1999).

His other starring roles have included the psychological thriller Seven (1995), the crime film L.A. Confidential (1997), the drama Pay It Forward (2000), the science fiction-mystery film K-PAX (2001), and the role of Lex Luthor in the superhero film Superman Returns (2006).

He was the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London since 2004 until stepping down in mid-2015. Since 2013, Spacey has played Frank Underwood in the Netflix political drama series House of Cards. For his role as Underwood, he has won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama and two consecutive Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

In October 2017, actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a sexual advance toward him in 1986, when Rapp was 14. Other men alleged that Spacey had made unwanted advances and had sexually harassed and assaulted them as well. Netflix cut ties with Spacey, shelving his film Gore and removing him from the last season of House of Cards. His role as J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott's film All the Money in the World (2017) was reshot with Christopher Plummer in his place. Spacey appeared in the 2018 film Billionaire Boys Club (which had been completed before the allegations surfaced), which was released with his role unchanged.

You are among my favorite actors of all time, Mr. Spacey. From your skills to the amazing roles that suited you so well, you are indeed among the elite in Hollywood and well-earned. I am a native of Spartanburg, SC and spent my most memorable years in Cowpens, right on the Cherokee County border. In middle school and early high school every girl I dated was from Jonesville or Gaffney. My Mom's family is from NY but we are all South Carolinian for sure, however as a result I am highly skilled at languages. I speak this Upstate SC accent as well as anyone being a native here even though I am often accused of being from "the north" because I have a reasonable grasp of the English language. That said, your interpretation of an Upstate SC accent is horrible...This is not Northern Georgia or Louisiana, whatever hybrid accent you're going for there. People from Gaffney as a majority do not speak with the southern accent you so beautifully do in House of Cards. Oh, I remember watching the Peachoid go up from the steel beams and all...I fished in the ponds that provided fresh water to the peach orchards all over Cherokee County. I speak "properly" according to my fellow natives, but I can blend in with them too, and your portrayal of an Upstate SC accent is so far off it's embarrassing. The writing and your considerable skills are amazing...Please don't get me wrong. All I'm saying is that as a native of this congressional district I'm disappointed in your failure to truly grasp our accent.

I have never written a famous person before, but your performance in this movie warrants it. At first when I realized you were singing and not Bobby Darin I was surprised...fast forward to the end. The Curtain Falls is the most beautiful song I have ever heard sung. I listened to the version Bobby sang on You Tube, and may I be forgiven for saying this...it may have been his song but you totally nailed it!! You gave me a lovely evening watching your movie and I thank you. Maria (BTW from Princeton, NJ)

I'm sorry bro. I'm a fan of your movies. Me and my wife get so mad at horrible bosses! (Because you played the character so good). I wanted to beat ur ass! If he was my boss! (LOL that's a compliment) Anyways, I don't know if Rapp just wants attention, or he just wants to start some shit, but his parents are responsible. Why is a 14 year old going to a party and getting drunk? He wasn't traumatized by you. His parents were criminally neglegent. I hope U don't get too bummed out. Good luck and GOD bless you!

Dear Kevin:
My wife and I love your work as an superb actor. We are saddened by this over zealous action towards you. We think it is very unfair. We wish you the very best and know there are many of your fans that will always support you and the talents you bring into our homes. Our best to you. This too shall pass. The media is out of control on this. You have been dignified in addressing this. God bless.

Mr. Stacey: I am a huge fan of yours. For what it is worth, I think what has happened to you is beyond belief. How is possible for you to have your reputation ruined, when there has been no due process of law? How can allegations that are unproved (at this point) ruin your life? Before these rumors (what they are at this point) are proven you or anyone else should not harassed in the manner that you and others, have been. My thoughts are with you

Hey, Kevin, you're one of my favorite actors. I don't give two s**ts about the accusations against you, or whether you did them or not. You're STILL one of the best actors I've ever seen and will ALWAYS be one of the best actors I will ever see. I hope you are able to come back to us, so we can see your wonderful face in movies again. I'm sorry you're going through these troubles. Please don't let this be the end :D

Kevin Spacey,
I wanted to tell you that you as an actor have impacted my life in so many ways. Your roles have given me so much enjoyment, and as someone who was raised poor in the south, House of Cards has given me so much hope and strength throughout the years. Your role as Frank Underwood just spoke so much to me, as a gay southern boy. I wish you the best. I pray that whatever you are going through, you make it out the side as a better person.

It's important that you remember that you have done good, that you have made meaningful contributions to society, and that no matter what you've done, it is never too late to change. It is never too late for redemption.

God Bless.

Mr. Spacey,
I know you’ve been through some dark days this past year. I have, as well. Just know many people support you, and want to encourage you to fight on. No judgement here.
Your fan,

Mr Kevin Spacey,

I had been your fan for a very long time. I hope you are not discouraged by the mass reactions of people under pressure and fear. Your fans and people who know you should never doubt that you are very kind down right in your heart. Everyone has trauma and may have caused some damage to others without awareness, but witch-hunt is certainly repeating some wrong doings lying in our nature, but with the will of kindness and goodness, which you always possess and is the cure to your recovery, please have the faith in the goodness of man and yours. I believe people who with real awareness and feelings would have a fairer understanding of what is really going on.

Be well,
Cathy

Mr. Spacey
We consider you a great actor who is being smeared with malicious stories about you. These stories will NOT change watching you in TV shows or movies. We won't be swayed by 'stories'. We base our support on your ability to act and entertain us. The truth will come out and you'll be proven innocent of these allegations.
Keep on acting with purpose and making each character you portray your own.

Welcome.... There is no judgement north of the boarder. I wish you everything, but mostly, the longest hug ever made on film. Sorry, I never lie... a hug never known, never seen, never experienced in all of humanity. I like our lobster... What, changed the story line? Let's rebuild. I know there are thousands waiting on your rebound. For me, I don't care. A fine wine and enjoying what youth we have left and of course cuddles, is all that the sole needs. Power? How cares... I care. I love you, and always will.

Every time I look at old clips of Jack Benny, I can’t help thinking of Mr. Spacey. Most dramatic actors do not play comedians well. I think that Mr. Spacey would be an exception.
