The Tennessee Titans are based in Nashville, Tennessee and are members of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC). The team was previously known as the Houston Oilers and playing in 1960 as a charter member of the American Football League. The Oilers won the first two AFL championships, before joining the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger.
The team relocated from the Astrodome in Houston, Texas to the state of Tennessee in 1997. While waiting for a permanent stadium to be built in Nashville, the team played temporarily at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis for one season before moving to Nashville in 1998 and playing in Vanderbilt Stadium. For two seasons, the team was known as the Tennessee Oilers before changing its name to Titans in 1999. The team plays at LP Field in Nashville. The team is currently coached by Mike Munchak.
